Current Highlights on View

A Stitch in Time showcases fashionable clothing of the period, with highlights from the Museum's collection of historical garments, while  further exploring "behind the seams" to relate these garments to the Meadowlands and its surrounding cities that contributed to the fashion industry.


As distinguishing stylistic elements from 1890-1915 are noted, so too are the factories and mills producing textiles, notions, and clothing embellishment of the Meadowlands area.

Williams Carlos Williams: Doctor & Poet

Updated as of December 2017

Our permanent exhibit is dedicated to former Rutherford Resident, Williams Carlos Williams (1883-1963). Author of The Red Wheelbarrow, and many other works of poetry, Williams also had a long lasting career as a physician. Come see the changes we’ve made to our collection preserving his legacy, including some of his theater materials pictured below.
